Chicago Art Open Preview and Benefit Party at River East Art Center

On Tuesday April 20 2010, the Chicago Artists’ Coalition held a Preview and Benefit Party at the River East Art Center in Chicago. The Preview and Benefit coincides with the organization’s 35th anniversary and provides a preview of the 12th annual Chicago Art Open.

The Chicago Art Open is an annual program of the Chicago Artists' Coalition. This professionally curated exhibition features artists in all media. Categories of artists include professional, emerging, and student. Over 350 area artists have art in the 2010 Chicago Art Open, which occupies three large exhibition spaces in the River East Art Center. All art in the show is available for purchase. Included in the exhibit is a digital painting by Jim Plaxco - To Be Anonymous

The Preview and Benefit was well attended with approximately 1/5 of the attendees being artist's with work in the show. The benefit featured wine, hors d’oeuvres, music, and a silent auction of an original work by known Chicago artist Winnie Godfrey. Proceeds from the benefit go to support Chicago Artists’ Coalition programming.

The Chicago Art Open runs April 20 throught May 7. A free opening reception will be held April 24th from noon to 4:00pm.
