Alien Biomech Portrait

Alien Biomech Portrait is a work that used generative AI to create the base image. I used Stable Diffusion to create the original image as a part of testing some Python programs I was developing for a pair of workshops I taught in 2023 on generative AI. The images I created as a part of that development process have sat ignored on an external drive for almost a year now. It was only recently in going through that drive that I 'rediscovered' the images. This one caught my eye and I decided to develop it further by using a variety of image processing techniques and some hand painting/coloring to create a more artistic image. I hope you fing this Giger-inspired image intriguing.

For my part, I became a fan of H.R. Giger and his distinctive art after he did the cover art for Emerson, Lake & Palmer's wonderful prog rock album Brain Salad Surgery.
